Wemos is working to create a world in which the right to health is guaranteed for every man, woman and child. A world in which the conditions for a healthy life are present and in which everyone has equal access to healthcare. A world in which governments fulfil their obligation to respect, protect and realize the right to health. This is the vision that inspires our mission. Wemos influences (inter)national policy in such a way that the right to health is respected, protected and promoted. Wemos contributes to policy changes aimed at making structural improvements in health for all. We advocate for ethical conduct, coherent and fair policy and health equity by appplying a global perspective on health. Wemos’ objective is to draw the government’s attention to its obligation to respect, protect and realize the right to health. Taking our themes as the basis, we present practical proposals for policy improvements which will advance the health situation worldwide. Where necessary, Wemos also addresses other parties, such as companies and international institutions. The right to health is expressly included in various charters and treaties, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This means that the necessary conditions for a healthy and productive life, such as affordable care and good nutrition, should be available worldwide.
